Mad Mark’s high pressure return in 2015

British Citroën Xsara SuperCar campaigner Mad Mark Watson gets full pressure backing from Mend-A-Hose Hydraulics Ltd. for next year’s Rallycross action.

crofy low downMend-A-Hose Hydraulics Ltd. is proud to be announced as new title sponsors of the Mad Mark Motorsport team for the coming season. After nearly a year off track and a complete rebuild of his well-known Citroën Xsara SuperCar November 16 at Croft Circuit near Darlington will see Mark back on track and competing at the highest level for the first time since the revamp.

The car will then also carry the name of Mend-A-Hose from Castleford for the first time. A new major sponsorship deal has just been announced with the company that will secure Mark racing in the British Rallycross Championship, the Rallycross Challenge Europe and some of the world rounds in 2015. John Duff, owner of Mend-A-Hose, came to Croft for the British Rallycross Grand Prix [on October 19] and saw how popular the team and Mark was and couldn’t pass up the opportunity of gaining exposure for his thriving company being placed on his unique Rallycross car.

John Duff (left) of MAH Hydraulics Ltd. has teamed-up with Mad Mark Watson.

MAH Hydraulics services stocks and markets the widest range of pneumatic and hydraulic hoses, fittings and associated products along with a 24hr National on-site hose replacement service. John Duff commented: “Mark and his team are dedicated individuals with a passion and belief that mirrors our company ethics, so attaching our brand to such dedication is an easy decision to make. We hope with the backing of MAH and other sponsors he can go on to achieve more championships than he already has.”

MAH Hydraulics joins Mark’s regular sponsors The Jersey Farm Hotel and Hog Roast Yorkshire to make sure he has the budget to compete at the highest level for the 2015 season. “The last few years has seen us doing lots of promotional events and shows to raise  the team profile and this has finally paid off in gaining this level of involvement from such high profile companies, we always have new ways of gaining exposure,” Mark concluded.

2014 Sponsorship and Plans

In the current financial climate it becomes more and more diffcult to secure backing for the team. Plans are on hold for 2014 as sponsorship is sort for Mad Mark. The citroen xsara is stripped at the moment down to a bare shell ready for its winter rebuild. Some development work is to be carried out to like moving the radiator to the rear of the car etc .

Many Sponsorship packs have been sent out to prospective sponsors trying to attract new companies into the sport. Rallycross has good TV exposure on Channel 4 and Motors TV with plenty of air time and more prominensce thats some other championships. A company or product that was displayed on our Super car would definitely be seen by a lot of people.

Investment in the team can be as little as £1000 per season with logos displayed on the car, transporter, race clothing and promotional material. Opportunities for more investment and more exposure are of course on offer.

There is also corporate hospitality and loyalty, with the team being abkle to host guests of sponsors at race meetings to watch their team perform.

You next step would be to contact Mark direct to discuss your requirments and how you can help him acheive his goals.

shows and more shows latest news

Its been a busy month for Mad Mark and the team.

Last round of the championship was disastrous as a  massive engine failure caused by a jammed open air injector has dropped Mark from 2nd to 4th in the championship. Parts have been sourced from France but the are very expensive and not what was budgeted for when the season started. Tony Bardy is confident that he can rebuild engine and will generate more power with all new parts but the bill is hefty so lots of promotion work is ongoing.

June has been a busy month for shows with the team at Extreme Nissan Sunderland. The team were amazed how many people were there with Mark signing autographs constantly through the day and even running out of posters.

June 22 and 23 sees Mad Mark Motorsport on display as part of Boltons Le Mans festival in the town centre over the weekend. This will be an ideal opportunity to sell our new line of Mad Mark Clothing. Also reach a new audience for Rallycross

The Last weekend sees Mad Mark’s own show Motor Madness with over 300 cars on display a chance to collect funds for the team.

7 July sees us all on the Go Motorsport stand for rallycross at Silverstone Circuit. This is a free show for the public so should be very busy.

Mad Mark wins Round 2 of Monster British Rallycross Championship

At the beginning of the year, it was feared that 'Mad Mark' would retire from rallycross after spending two years out of the sport due to budget issues. With help from companies and a scheme that was created by fans who each contribute £45, Mark is back on track once again.

After a testing start to his championship campaign with a few problems and a 6th place at Lydden Hill, Kent. Mark and the team traveled to Mallory Park in Leicestershire on Sunday 14 April for Round 2 of the Monster Energy  British Rallycross Championship.

A revamped turbo from AET Motorsport based at Normanton nr Wakefield and modifications the team made to the car between events meant that Mark had high hopes for a good finish.

In practice it was evident that the car was definitely quicker and that Mark was still a little rusty from not racing for 2 years. A power steering failure also meant that the timed practice didn't go well. Mechanics Chris and Dave fixed the problem and then into the 3 qualifying heats Mark went. Starting from row 2 in the first heat a sound 3rd place was achieved and the xsara showed promise. Heat 2 from the front row, Mark made an awesome start and took up 2nd place behind Godfrey and another good time was set. 3rd heat from the front again, and another blistering start meant Mark lead into first corner, jostling for position in the pack he was tagged by Harris in the Focus and spun out, but managed to restart and get in a time, putting the Jersey Farm Hotel Citroen xsara on front row for the Supercar final.

Mark hit the lights bang on and made a fantastic start, getting the jump on Procter and Godfrey and lead into the fast first corner. Setting off on a damp track, on slick racing tyres was brave, and meant Mark was a little hesitant into the first corner causing Godfrey to hit him from behind, this loosened Godfrey's fiesta's bonnet, which promptly opened and covered his windscreen causing him to eventually retire. Proctor meanwhile came down the inside of the squabbling Mark and Godfrey to muscle his way through, Mark then set about chasing him down and then seeing a smoking turbo sensed victory was in his sight. Mark caught and passed Procter whose car then set on fire and the race was stopped, making Mad Mark event winner and third in British Championship, only 2 points behind the leader. A big celebration was had by the team Chris, Dave, Sarah and Mad Mark who hadn't been on the top step of the podium for over 2 years.

The next event sees Mad Mark Motorsport travel to Knockhill in Scotland for round 3. Details on the team and sponsorship opportunities can be found at www.madmark.co.uk

So Far So Good

Well we made it to Lydden for the first round of the British Rallycross Championship sponsored by Monster Energy.

It was a struggle and time was short, so thank you to everyone who lent a hand to get us there and to the team on the day. For Dave and Chris it was a really busy two days as a few teething problems developed.

A thank you to all those who pledged to our £45 sponsor scheme and put their names on the mighty xsara. We are still along way off in achieving our budget for the season. Basic costs like entries, tyres, fuel, transport and such come to over £11000 so you realise why we have to work hard to attract sponsorship money to do our sport.

On the day at Lydden we had a few problems and found later that a turbo issue meant that we were dramatically down on power probably giving away 150 bhp to other cars, so even finishing the event was a good achievement. The turbo is now in the hands of AET Motorsport who are giving it a full rebuild ready for our next race at Mallory Park, Leicestershire on 14 April.

The car in the mean time is getting spruced up and if all goes to plan will be attending Seaview performance garage, Peterlee on Sunday 7 April at one of their open days chance to see xsara meet mark and maybe donate to our sponsor scheme.

In the pink

After a meeting last night we are glad to announce that the Hog Roast Yorkshire company will be a prominent sponsor on the xsara for 2013.

Jim Slater the owner of  Hog Roast Yorkshire met with Mad Mark and Sarah Sharp, team manager of Mad Mark Motorsport at their base at Jersey Farm Hotel and a deal was struck to display his distinctive pink pig logo on the bonnet of the xsara for the whole season.

Jim's company do outside catering, bars, hog roasts along with many other services. The team will be seen at events with the Hog Roast for spectators and fans to sample.

Mad Mark Motorsport are grateful for the help and financial contribution and urge other companies to get their name on the car as space is limited.

Get Mad Mark back on track

Did you know… Jersey Farm has it's own racing team, with top rallycross driver Mad Mark.
Mad Mark Motorsport is based at Jersey Farm Hotel where they prepare and run the mighty 500bhp Citroen Xsara super car.

The car is famous and has been featured on TV on Fifth Gear doing a challenge. The 4wd car does 0-60mph in 1.9 seconds an astounding acceleration figure that is even quicker from a standing start than a Formula 1 car.

Mark with the help of the Jersey Farm Hotel has had quite a bit of success over the years. He has been 3 times British Open Rallycross Champion as well as Northern Ireland Champion, and awarded driver of the year twice. Sponsorship in the UK has become harder and harder to secure, and as the budget to run such a car at top level in Britain and Europe is quite high , sponsors are needed to help fund the races. As it has become harder to get corporate sponsors Mark has set up a scheme so that individuals, fans and supporters can help, for just £45, they will see their chosen name displayed on his xsara race car, get a fantastic souvenir t-shirt  and also be invited to a VIP day to meet the team, the car and the driver.

All the terms and conditions can be found on Mark's web www.madmark.co.uk or join his face book page. This must be the most cost effective way to get your name on a top flight racing car as well as get a popular driver back in the British Rallycross Championship.

A New Season 2013

There has been a lot of speculation as to the return of Mad Mark back to the British Rallycross Championship.

At the moment no decision has been made due to rising costs in the UK and a sponsor has yet to be found to fund the team.

Work will be carried out on the Citroen xsara supercar over the winter to make the car even more powerful in anticipation of a new season.

Sponsorship in the Uk is becoming increasingly difficult to locate, due to the economic climate we are in. However with such a stand out car and a different approach to publicity, Mad Mark Motorsport are guaranteed TV and press exposure.

It doesn't cost as much as you think to sponsor a motorsport team and many benefits can be gained from this form of publicity. A colour sponsor brochure is available and Mark is of course on hand to visit your organisation and run throught the benefits as well as talk numbers as a deal can be done.

Why not have a look through the pdf version of our sponsor brochure,  or if you have a contact you wish to pass on, then please email Mark direct. Many thanks.
